What is a "Land for Wildlife"?

Karri Valley Chalets is registered as a "Land for Wildlife" with the Department of Conservation. This scheme recognises the efforts of the landowners for their conservation values and endeavours to care for native flora & fauna. We are the only accommodation business to have this recognition in the Pemberton area.

Our hospitality business has been designed to cater to those special clients wishing to experience a true nature based, or "eco-tourism" holiday. Many of our guests are simply amazed when they see the prolific bird life, many resident native animals and stunning flora everywhere.

We have raised a couple of orphaned joeys (baby kangaroos). They take time and dedication, as each needs to be hand-fed when young. We have integrated them with the many other kangaroos on our property. Should you wish to meet "Jo-Jo" and "Patch" just ask us, and we'll introduce them to you.

A panoramic view taken from the front veranda of your chalet

The view from the front of your chalet (above) is simply awesome and offers many photo opportunities, with the numerous resident kangaroos playing every day. We provide our guests with a pair of binoculars (should you forget your own) to watch the 'roos and birds at play. At night, the sky is illuminated by the many stars of the milky-way and because there is no light pollution whatsoever, the night-sky is spectacular. Do you know where the southern cross is?

Our chalets are located right beside Beedelup National Park, in one of the few remaining "virgin" Karri forests in the world. You can take a beautiful walk along a section of the Bibbulmun Track, only 200 metres away from your chalet, through stunning forest to the lake and waterfalls.

This is the true "Peppermint Grove"

The photo above shows a magical walk track which you can take from your chalet to our reception (just in case you prefer not to drive). This walk takes you through what we call the true "Peppermint Grove". The wonderful forest smells are magnificent all year round.

We are a relatively new, family-owned and operated business. We completed construction of Karri Valley Chalets in June 2000 after many months of preparation and planning. Our four private chalets were designed to meet the needs of guests who appreciate the benefits of modern, affordable and comfortable self-contained accommodation. The water supplied to each chalet comes from our very own natural spring and many of our guests take water home with them. It is so soft you hardly need any shampoo and it will leave you feeling silky smooth.

Already we have received recognition for the high quality of our accommodation, by being awarded first prize in the prestigious Housing Industry Association Awards (2000) in the category of "specialized accommodation" in the southwest.

Locally there are 5 National Parks, including the nearby D'Entrecasteaux National Park and Yeagerup Sand Dunes. These sand dunes provide some of the most spectacular four-wheel driving opportunities in the south-west. You may also wish to visit Lake Jasper, which is only 18 kilometres from us. This is the largest natural fresh-water lake in Western Australia and is a sight to behold. Escorted and tag-a-long 4WD trips to either location can be arranged or maps and directions can be provided. A boat landing facility is only 10 km's from us also. The Donnelly River offers superb fishing and a fantastic canoe trip to the the mouth of the river, limestone cliffs and the wild Southern Ocean.

We're sure your stress-levels will diminish once you relax into "Karri-Valley time". There are no phones ringing, traffic noise, sirens or people to annoy you. Just sit back and listen to the sounds of bird song or the distant roar of the ocean. Watch our resident kangaroos play at your doorstep, while sipping a glass of locally produced world-class wine on your front veranda.

In short, we invite you to share our piece of "Heaven on Earth".

Your satisfaction is our first priority.
