Karri Valley Chalets is family owned & operated business, providing genuine country hospitality to a select few guests on a secluded private property. We cater to a discerning clientele - those seeking something more private, with better than average facilities such as spring water supply, reverse cycle air-conditioning, log-fire, wide-screen HD LCD TV, a full size stove with an oven/grill, family size fridge/freezer in a well fitted out kitchen, dining suite for six and a bathroom with both a bath and a shower. Our valued guests choose to stay with us over and over, because they receive personal service and appreciate our efforts & care for the environment.
We started development of Karri Valley Chalets in early 1999 and after a long hard slog, we opened our doors for business on 1st of July 2000. The design of the chalets was our own and the intention was to offer spacious, comfortable and well insulated accommodation. The large living area, big bedrooms and privacy trees, as well as cottage gardens are all designed to give our valued clients the feel of staying in a 'home away from home'. This is perhaps the reason we have so many repeat visitors and referrals.
Forever improving, we have a few plans for the future, including the establishment of a bar & grill restaurant to meet the ever demanding needs of both visitors to our region and locals alike. We hope to get this project started by the end of 2011.
Having moved from the Eastern Goldfields City of Kalgoorlie - Boulder in 1997, the transition to rural property owners was not easy. During the first 18 months we had to come to grips with what we had actually done! Things like the long distances involved to simply check our mail, buy groceries, take our children to functions / school events and of course, coming to terms with the isolation.
Since we have owned the property (been custodians is more apt), we have planted in excess of 12,000 native trees, undertaken rehabilitation of the last remaining 'hops' field in our area, made a concerted effort to erradicate introduced pests, plants and control the too numerous feral animals. We registered our property as a 'Land for Wildlife' with the Department of Environment and Conservation in 2002. This led us to fostering and raising orphaned joeys and woylies and learning all about what that entails, with many sleepless nights as a result of marcupials being nocturnal creatures. The joeys we raised have successfully grown to become lovely does and given birth to their own joeys many times over. They now reside among the other kangaroos in the resident mob of Western Greys on our property. You can see them all at play, directly in front of the chalets every day. Come share a piece of what we call our slice of 'Heaven on Earth' in this beautiful part of the South West of WA, one of the last areas of untouched wilderness in the region. We look forward to showing you what we love so much about living here and directing you to the hidden little secret spots in our area.
